What are we?
¡Anímate!, Inc. is a truly small company
(just the two of us and our husbands as free laborers) brought about by
foreign language teachers for foreign language teachers. The materials we offer
are student-centered and teacher-friendly. We do not offer you any products that
have not been successful in OUR OWN classrooms! Because it is sometimes
difficult to find materials that are not expensive, that are reusable and can be
used at almost any grade level, for many years, we, as Spanish teachers, have
developed various activities, games, readings and technological resources for
our own students and have collaborated with French and German
teachers to develop like activities that contain the four
language skills-reading, writing, speaking and listening, are easy to use, to
the point, enjoyable for the students and linguistically sound at the same time.
We started sharing our ideas with others at workshops in our school district and at foreign language conferences. We had so much positive feedback that we decided to take some of our most successful ideas and methods, develop and publish them!
We also offer workshops on a variety of topics that encompass various aspects of foreign language and ESOL education, curriculum alignment, development of heritage/native language classes, integrating technology and incorporating activities, crafts, composition, literature, songs, dance and other cultural nuances as integral parts foreign language study.
AND we offer a special service particular to this website, called THE ACTIVITY FAIRY! Because the Activity Fairy is a permanent resident of our company, she is ready to help with activity advice! Although her advice is free, she will develop an activity especially for your class size, needs and personality lickety-split with a wave of her wand and at a small fee. Visit her blog to see what weekly fairy-inspired insight or activity she has in store for you! You can e-mail her for advice on any aspect of foreign language teaching. She'll be happy to answer!

Who Are We?
Our financial guru, sweet and kind taskmaster, and Microsoft Word Wizard
is Sheila Bayles and our creative kook and Power Point Queen is Jeanette
Arnhart. Together, we have more than 50 years of classroom experience! We've been there, done
that and are still doing it!
Sheila has a BA in Spanish with a minor in Mathematics and an M.S. in Mexican Political Sciences and a Bilingual Certification from the Centro de Estudios Americanos in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. She has taught Spanish I, II, III, IV, concurrent College Intermediate Spanish I and II, AP Spanish Language, Latin American Studies, native Spanish, and high school level ESOL. She has served as a district Foreign Language specialist and a Secondary Curriculum Specialist.
Jeanette has a B.A. in Spanish with a minor in French and an MA in Spanish Literature and Linguistics from New Mexico State University. She also has Bilingual Certification from the Universidad Vasconcelos in Durango, Durango, Mexico. She has taught Spanish I, II, III, IV, Native Spanish I, II, & III, Heritage Spanish, AP Spanish Literature, Keystone, ESOL for Biology, ESOL English at both the primary and secondary levels, and Spanish at the Community College level. She is currently an instructor at the university level, specializing in service learning, as she is completing her doctoral degree in bi-literacy.
We believe that communication is central to the acquisition of a language and that education should be student-driven and student-centered. Our job as foreign language teachers is to plant the seeds of language ownership by using didactically and linguistically sound, production based, orderly materials and instruction mixed with humor, technology, and a contagious love of language. We hope our products will help you to do the same!
